WND unclear on the concept

World Net Daily hires a plane to fly a banner saying "WHERE'S THE REAL
BIRTH CERTIFICATE?" over Cowboys/Giants game. Which was being played
in a covered stadium.

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId76717

(This is not a parody. It's their own site.)

WND in the subject line caught my eye. Yesterday in the item on Drudge
about Michael Savage trying to buy Newt out of the race, the URL for
Savage's site had "wnd" as a component of the path.

<http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/2011/12/savage-offers-gingrich-1-million-to-drop-out-of-the-race-will-announce-on-show-today/>

I never heard of World Net Daily, and the page the link goes to
doesn't say that anywhere. Is it the same organization?

Apparently. If you Google:

"michael savage" wnd

... this is the first hit:

1. Michael Savage - WorldNetDaily

We just got a Christmas card from our best friends, with a cute photo
on the front of their three grandchildren (from two different of their
children) who are named: Jade (a boy); Tao (a boy, and pronounced
TAY-oh); and Sonnet (a girl).

None of those three of course appear on that web site of top 1000 baby
names, except Jade -- as a girl's name.

If you knew these friends, who are very conventional Ronald Reagan
Republican types, you'd be even more amused.

"Conventional Ronald Reagan Republican" is an oxymoron these days.
Ronald Reagan was a flaming liberal who gave a speech about the workers'
right to unionize, and even said once that rich people should pay more
taxes than poor people.

Sonnet's a pretty name. Jade is going to become more common for boys
because various celebrities have named their sons Jayden (various
spellings) and Jade is an obvious nickname. Tao is going to be in for a
lifetime of irritation at having his name mispronounced.

On the other hand, maybe people shouldn't worry about that. In the seven
years that I've been fully responsible for my mother, I have tried to
explain the name "Elsbeth" countless times. No one gets it. "It's
Scottish for Elizabeth", I say, and they sometimes get it, but usually
not. Everyone just calls her Elizabeth.

I have a co-worker whose brother-in-law is named Cynedd. Pronounced
"Kenneth".

Of course, he's Welsh, so there's some reason for it.

That's my sister's name, but with an "s": "Elisabeth". No, we're not
German. 'Murricans generally knew how to pronounce it, just spelled it
wrong. Of course, now she lives in Germany where it's a perfectly
ordinary spelling.
