OT: Aurora Borealis

This is mainly for Bruce, though others may be interested. The sun,
unexpectedly, gave off an X 4.0 flare - a strong one. This could result
in Aurora Borealis, and Austrialis, for the next few days. So, Bruce, you
may be able to see the "merry dancers". Jim.

Nice tip, Jim.

A couple of weeks ago we were actually able to see the Space Shuttle & Space
Station passing overhead. DH had seen in the newspaper that they were
supposed to be visible about our latitude, and indeed we went out front (our
neighbors undoubtedly think we're loons) in the cold, and watched. Sure
enough it was clear enough and we saw them tracking, right across the sky,
separated by about 20-30 secs (I could be wrong). And we waved. Totally
cool. We were glad of the no cloud cover. Not quite the Aurora Borealis,
but still a cool thing to see in the sky.
