OT: Aurora Borealis in UK?

It's always been an ambition of mine to see the aurora borealis but
I've never had the opportunity to go to somewhere where they are
visible. But they may be about to come to "northern part of UK" in the
next day or two. I don't know if I'm going to be north enough though.
Mind you, there'll probably be clouds anyway. There always is whenever
there's something worth seeing.

Probably!, It's a racing cert :-)

It's been seen in the UK as far south as London, I believe.

But yes, there's fog over the north at the moment. You could let off a
bloody supernova and we wouldn't see a thing.

I've seen them in the west Midlands in the 80's once. My brother lives
in northern Labrador Canada and sees them all the time , along with the
cracking sound when they are really strong.
