Dunno. Elitism perhaps?
The people on the telly right now would probably qualify under your
franchise thingy. Most of the people I know who work long hours for crap
money might not. I've turned my husband from kneejerk socialist to
libertarian, but it took ten years of argument (and I mean *argument*!).
The middle-classes have the advantage of spare time and a decent
education - that's the flaw in the franchise by exam argument IMV. If it
was up to them, we would have a perpetual lib/lab/con lefty coalition.

You want to brainwash people to accept your fascist neo-feudalism. You
want the children of rich families to assume roles as masters, while the
children of poor families unquestioningly accept roles as serfs, because
those are the rules of feudalism.

You would prevent anyone who did not agree with you from voting. Fascism
on top of feudalism.

The only people who should be disenfranchised are senile old ex-pats.

Who is going to teach it? Even at college, my daughter is being
brainwashed - Labour Good - Tory Evil - LD Heroes.
IMHO any teacher found discussing politics in school at all should be
thrown out.
I am reminded of a Simpsons episode which showed a teacher pressing an
'independent thought alert' button when a pupil questioned something.

I agree - I just don't see how it can be changed. I see they have just
legged it up to Buckingham Palace. They think the Queen can or would
change anything?
Government is a cartel as you keep pointing out - whatever you vote for,
it makes little difference to the actual outcome.
Higher education was free under Thatcher - what happened?

Now they are doing away with EMA because some kids spend it on burgers -
mine uses it for transport to college. Without it, she won't be going to
college. Are they blind or just stupid?

They are brainwashed socialist at the moment. They earn no money and
think that anyone who does should pay through the nose to give them what
they want, when they want it. It's dangerous.

You
want the children of rich families to assume roles as masters, while the
children of poor families unquestioningly accept roles as serfs, because
those are the rules of feudalism.

Brainwashing them into socialism makes them serfs to governments instead.

There has to be a pecking order - it's natural and it's productive
because there is symbiosis. Rich people cannot do without poor people,
and vice versa.
We have spent decades giving children ideas above their station and has
it worked? No. Social mobility worse, gap between rich and poor even
wider. An atmosphere of entitlement which means that youngsters don't
want menial jobs because they are better than that.

The rich and the poor understand the value of a penny - the middle
classes understand the value of little, and only know how to spend other
people's money. Not only that but they seem to add little value to
anything much.
(No I'm not referring to the traditional middle-class professions, who
were mostly conservative anyway, but the nouveau middle classes who were
bred from the entitlement children above.'I've got a degree therefore I
should command a large budget and do as little as possible for it and
I'll hang dinner ladies rather than do myself out of a job').

large numbers of those who would fail a franchise examination will
also not vote...

You would prevent anyone who did not agree with you from voting. Fascism
on top of feudalism.

The only people who should be disenfranchised are senile old ex-pats.

They probably know what's best for Britain - they left for a good reason.

I hear a lot of people who have had the benefits of higher education,
pouring vitriol on the student protesters, stating that it's only right and
proper that they pay for their education... and maybe somewhere in there
they have a point. However, the percentage of people I hear this from who
essentially acquired their education for 'free' seems inordinately high ..
professionals in their 50s and 60s; where either mummy and daddy paid, the
state paid, or some combination of the two. And yet they shout from the
other side of their mouths about how modern students expect everything for
free when they paid nothing themselves..

I wonder how enthusiastic for these 'loans' they would be, if they were
forced to pay increased taxation to cover the education they acquired for
'free', based on the same deal and modern-day equivalent costs?

It's vital to keep these youngsters on their toes.

When they mope around the park, criticise them.

When they express a wish to get educated, criticise them too!

Besides, working class chic never died out.
