PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Police have identified a suspect in a string of cat
killings in Pierce
Township.

Authorities issued a warrant Friday for 19-year-old Drake Hunter Kelch, who
is accused of
shooting cats with BB or pellet guns.

More than 20 cats have turned up dead, wounded or missing during the past
month, and pet owners
want answers.

"Why? Why did he do it? Where is my cat?" said Marie Pemberton, who has been
unable to find one
of her cats. "I'd like to find him so I can bury him."

Pemberton said her other cat was shot near its front leg and chest, and is
now recovering.

"I think he gets enjoyment from it or something, is what I think," said
Kevin Harner, whose cat
was killed.

Investigators said Kelch, who is from North Carolina, is believed to be
homeless and living along
the Ohio River in New Richmond.

Interviews with witnesses connected Kelch to the cat killings, police said.

Residents of the Eastgate Mobile Home Park and nearby areas have found cats
injured or dead, and
some of their bodies were stuffed inside mailboxes.
