so there's a starting point. It's easy to understand why they

why unpaid rightwingers willingly mount angry resistance to spending
any money on general health, public schools, or essential

manipulating people and no scruples, it's the way to go in
politics.
As old Abe noted, you can fool some people all of the time.
As to the apes, humans are slightly superior to orangutans
and chimpanzees in processing power, and humans have
the gift of speech and thence history and writing, so that
each generation can stand on the shoulders of its ancestors.
That's the only reason we're all not still scrabbling in the
ditches looking for grubs. The real progress of the human
race has been produced by a tiny minority of individuals.
Except for the single talent of speech, humans in general
really are not as different from the rest of the apes as they
like to think.
Otoh I'm cheered up by this thought: "Obama promises health
overhaul with or without GOP"
Whatever can be done, it will have to be done not
only without the GOP, but in spite of the GOP.
