Americans Relying on Fake Democracy of Afghanistan created by them - Reports of Fraud in Afghan Election Double
Although politics in Afghanistan has always been heavily influenced by
ethnic power brokers who receive some sort of compensation for their
support, this election "has surpassed previous ones in the scale of
bribery, corruption of election officials, ballot stuffing and
altering the count," states the NYT. Working through more than 2,000
complaints of irregularities on Election Day, officials are
investigating 550 that they consider to be serious fraud reports. Any
claims of fraud must be investigated before results can be announced.
And some sound bold indeed. In one case, a poll worker said ballots
boxes were already full when he arrived at 6 a.m. Western officials
are concerned about the political unrest that these fraud allegations
could unravel, but they're not sure exactly how to deal with the
problem. Some political leaders are already saying that if the fraud
allegations aren't taken seriously then they will urge their
supporters to take to the streets to protest the results.
